The Devil's Sweetheart

Chapter 348 - Impossible

When Kyle stepped out, a car was already pulled at the entrance of her house. Unlike her friends and colleagues, she lives in an individual house leading a peaceful life, and now she has to deal with the house guards. She opened the car door by herself, stepped in, and noticed Landon was still on the phone. He briefly looked at her. \'\'Why did you wear Jeans?\'\' Was all he asked, and then resumed talking. Am I his girlfriend? Kyle thought to herself. He doesn\'t even spare a glance at me?

For an hour, Landon continued speaking, and only when he sensed Kyle\'s discomfort, he ended the call. \'\'Sorry, babe. She is my friend and a kind of nagging woman...\'\' He said, eyes on the road.

\'\'That\'s fine. She must be an important friend\'\' Kyle again twisted her words, throwing a smile at him. She would be happy if he continued talking until they reached their destination.

The house looked like a palace surrounded by greenery. The moment they went inside, several servants arrived and greeted them. Landon ordered them to leave for the day and took Kyle to the master bedroom. \'\'Do you like it, babe.\'\' He pulled the distracted Kyle into his embrace. Gazing into her black pools, he inspected her from head to toe, making her cringe in fear. \'\'You look sexy. I can\'t wait to have you today.\'\'

\'\'Likewise.\'\' She smiled. Kyle\'s hands went damp at his sugar-coated words. Surprise and shock filled her face, watching the bed decorated with flowers. I have to find something valuable and get out of this place as soon as possible. This stupid man has sent all the servants away, and what if he forces on her? Kyle briefly looked at the environment, and she literally scolded herself for looking in the wrong room. \'\'Your house looks beautiful, Landon. Can I have a look at it?\'\' Draping her hands over his neck, she asked instead in a seductive voice. What am I doing? Kyle was disgusted, but she is left with no choice.

\'\'You sure are bold, babe. Why don\'t I see this side when we are in public?\'\' Licking his lips, he leaned forward for a kiss, and in the next moment, Kyle placed a finger on his lips. \'\'Not so easy. You have to wait for it\'\' Maintaining eye contact with him deeply.

\'\'You are driving me crazy, Kyle. I will not let you go unpunished today\'\' Running a hand through his hair, he patiently toured the house. \'\'This is my study room. It\'s nothing here. Do you want to go in here as well?\'\' Kyle nodded her head, and with a deep sigh, he opened the door and let her in. Like in all other rooms, Kyle thought she would not find anything, but she noticed small containers on the private shelf of the study, to her surprise. Got it! Those must be pills.

\'\'Come on. Let\'s go. You have seen enough,\'\' Landon finally added. \'\'We have wasted_\'\'

\'\'Ahhhh! My stomach!\'\' Kyle screamed and clutched her stomach in exasperation, scaring Landon out of wits. \'\'What happened? Are you all right?\'\'

\'\'It hurts suddenly. C_an you bring some water?\'\' She slumped on the floor, hand on her stomach. \'\'Please.\'\'

\'\'O_kay. Wait here.\'\' Landon has just stepped outside; Kyle put a stop to her act. She tore the page from one of the books, spilled the pills into it, and put it in her jeans pocket. Then, as if nothing happened, she continued pretending the act. After Landon arrived, she drank the water, excused with a stomach ache reason, and left the place in a hurry. Instead of going home, she took a cab and directly went to the hospital to talk with Kurt. Not before she opened the door, she froze when she heard the conversation happening inside.

\'\'So, the doctor suspects Landon, and she is going to his house to find the evidence\'\' The giant laughed, taking an apple piece from the plate. \'\'You did a better thing by tracking her phone calls, Sir.\'\'

\'\'Don\'t slip your tongue in front of her. She shouldn\'t know our purpose of coming_\'\'

\'\'You don\'t need to try hard to conceal the truth, Mr. Weller.\'\' A voice, as flat and hard as a stove lid, sent a chill on Kurt\'s spine. He gulped hard, watching her brooding eyes.

\'\'H_ello Kyle. I didnot expect you here_\'\'

\'\'You were using me for the case?\'\' Kyle yelled, looking at the sides for any object to break Kurt\'s head. \'\'Who permitted you to track my calls?\'\'

\'\'I didnot intend to_\'\'

\'\'Get out of this hospital before I come back. You will never get any information from me.\'\' Kyle turned to leave, but then she picked a remote and tossed it in Kurt\'s direction. Not expecting such violent behavior from Kyle, the remote hit his forehead with an impact before he dodged it. By the time Kurt was back into his senses, Kyle was already gone.

\'\'Does it pain, Sir?\'\' The giant asked, at last, suppressing his smile.

Kurt rubbed his forehead. \'\'Crap load of pain.\'\' Did she get hurt? How do I tackle this situation!

....

Meanwhile, on the other hand, Morvena sat in a chair, gripping her dress. The room was eerily silent until she heard a bone-chilling voice. \'\'You escaped from my men\'s clutches and dared to meet him despite my warnings. How dare you talk with Leena about Devin\'s memories.\'\' That said, Enger wheeled the chair and ceased the swivel with his leg when he came face to face with Morvena. Her legs trembled as Enger leaned forward. \'\'I should have guessed your cheap tricks. What do I do with you now?\'\'

\'\'I_I didnot mean to_\'\'

\'\'Nash,\'\' Enger ordered without taking his eyes off the scared stiff woman sitting in a cold sweat. \'\'Tell Brett to escort her to Russia.\'\'

\'\'Enger..please..\'\' Morvena pleaded. \'\'I will not create_\'\'

\'\'SILENCE!\'\'

Morvena was startled. The whole room turned dead silent. Enger signaled Nash to take care of the business and stormed out of the room.

\'\'I will take care of her business. Don\'t get worked up, Enger.\'\' Nash said as he settled in front of him. \'\'I don\'t know what exactly happened between you, Morvena, and Devin five years back. But I would suggest you have got an opportunity to utilize.\'\'

\'\'What do you mean?\'\' Enger questioned with a frown.

\'\'With today\'s event, there is a chance of misunderstandings between Leena and Devin. Leena already trusts you. If you rub a little salt on the wound...Do you know what I am trying to say?\'\' Nash explained.

\'\'Good job, my friend.\'\' Enger patted Nash with a knowing smile.

....

It\'s been three hours, Cutie and Devin are waiting for Leena to come out of the bathroom. \'\'Eena!\'\' Cutie screamed, but there was no response. It\'s because of that lizard aunty, Cutie thought to herself. She saw Leena crying when they were in the amusement park. Pouting her lips, Cutie poked Devin\'s arm. \'\'Eena!\'\'

\'\'She will come.\'\' Scatterbrained, Devin patted Cutie\'s head. Since morning, Leena\'s behavior was arbitrary. He could sense she is hiding something from him. \'\'Savny.\'\' He called and lifted her in his arms. \'\'Nick brought you a Barbie doll. Don\'t you want to play?\'\'

\'\'Barbie doll.\'\' Cutie squealed in happiness and let Devin carry her forgetting about Leena. Devin dropped Cutie with Nick and returned to the room.

\'\'Leena.\'\' He gently knocked on the bathroom door. Once, twice, he called her name, but there was no reply. A feeling of dread crept up from the pits. He rushed and rummaged through the cabinets and finally found the key. When he opened the bathroom door, his life flashed before his eyes. Words caught in his throat, watching Leena\'s pale face lying in the freezing bathtub. \'\'Leena, wake up. Please don\'t scare me.\'\' Devin patted her cheeks. Heart began to hammer in his chest with her lack of response. His hand reached the dress hem to discard the wet dress, but then a hand caught him. \'\'I am fine.\'\' Leena opened her eyes, her tone went cold.

Devin\'s mind and body finally relaxed when he heard her voice. His happiness only lived for a split second. In the next moment, it turned into rage. \'\'I warned not to take cold showers. Do you ever listen to my words?\'\' He blasted her for her negligence over health. When Devin lifted her dress again, Leena jerked his hand off. \'\'I can change my dress.\'\'

\'\'Does it matter? I have seen every_\'\'

\'\'Can you please go out.\'\' Leena cut him off in a rude way. \'\'I need some privacy.\'\'

Devin was paralyzed to the spot at Leena\'s indifference. In just seconds, Devin felt like he has become a stranger in her life. Not once Leena acted in such a way, even when they first met. She is not even looking into his eyes now. Where did it go wrong? He rubbed his chest when the pain seared into his heart. It was worse than when he took the bullet. "Is something bothering you, Sweetheart? We can talk_\'\'

\'\'I will be happy if you don\'t bother me for a while.\'\' That was all it took Devin to leave her alone.

When the door was closed with a loud thud, Leena collapsed on the floor in a crying mess. She steadied her breath to calm her panic, but nothing was helping her. The voice of Morvena was hunting her ever since she came back from the park.

[The happy life you are leading was supposed to be mine]

[Do you know anything about him]

[Morvena and Devin still love each other. He will come back to my friend soon]

\'\'Why her! Why her of all the people! I hate you..I hate you, Devin....\'\' But hating Devin was possible? Leena knew it is impossible.
